Xcarve issues with probe

Home my Xcarve. When I go to probe my dewalt router. The bit either goes past the probe and I have to shut it off or it doesn’t recognize the probe until I unplug it then it pushes through the probe into the waste board… I checked all cables homing switch. I’m lost any ideas please

usually probe intermittent issues like this are caused by frayed wires either within the clip or within the probe itself. You may need to investigate these connections to ensure they are solid and not frayed wires that occasionally get a connection as I suspect one of them are…

Thanks for the response but what’s weird is that when I disconnected the probe then the final icon turns blue m. First is connect right, second is collet connection and third is touch the bit with probe which doesn’t work until I disconnect

it sounds like there is a problem / short in your socket on the Z Axis. A Multimeter will be your friend here - disconnect your probe wires from the x-carve controller, and put a multimeter (on resistance) across the two wires. It should show an open circuit - if its showing zero resistance, then you have a short.

The inverse should be true for your probe, and your clamp.
