How to down rev your Arduino IDE " Arduino AVR Boards"

Continuing the discussion from Re Flash my x controller:

In the Arduino IDE go to Tools->Board->Boards Manager

For “Arduino AVR Boards” click on more info:

Click on Select Version" (the picture below doesn’t show 1.6.11 because I already have it installed)

Click on '1.6.11"

Click on Install

At the Arduino “Boards Manager” I clicked “More Info” to get the “Select Version” menu and then selected 1.6.9. I heard that X-Controller should use 1.6.9 or older. Is this correct?

I’m using 1.6.11 without any issues.
