I have an original Shapeoko 2 that I purchased from Inventables and I want to upgrade it to as close as I can get to the current X-Carve. I have NEMA 23 stepper motors on the X and Y axis and several years ago I upgraded the Z-Axis to the Acme kit. I recently purchased the X-Controler and have put it together but it isn’t yet connected to my Shapeoko 2. I’ve seen a list of components to upgrade a Shapeoko 2 to version 1 of the X-Carve and then to the newer version. All this is to ask will I be able to reuse my current Acme Z axis lead screw or would I need to purchase the one for the X-Carve? By the way, I would also like to upgrade my NEMA 17 Z to a NEMA 23 and change X to 750 mm.
B.F., I appreciate the offer but when I do change to 750 mm I plan to switch over to the wide makerslide.
I upgraded my shapeoko2 to current x carve specs. I added y axis risers, a cnc4newbies z axis, Y axis stiffeners, and 9mm belts and pulleys. It’s a whole new ball game from the shapeoko. It was worth the cost of the upgrades to finally get good results.
