Based on the one I did just a week ago:

I was at a rustic homegoods store where I’d seen a piece, similar to and larger than this, hand carved. I figured my robot could do it for me. I first painted a large redwood slab white. Then designed a tool in Autodesk Maya that procedurally draws trees. After ‘drawing’ a lot of them, this was my favorite, so I saved it’s alpha out as an image, and brought that into Easel for carving. Only took 20 min for the rough pass (.25" 3-flute upcut bit) and another 20min for the finish (.125" 3-flu…

I thought I’d tive it another shot. Slightly smaller (same piece of wood actually), using a 1/8" bit for rough, and a 90deg v-bit for the finish pass. Pleased with the results:

This measures 9.5x17"
12 min for the rough, and just over 20 min for the finish.

However, the finish pass had a pretty bad failure I was able to recover from (use last home positino did not work), I’m going to start a separate bug thread for that (link below). Because of the finish pass start failure, I had to guess as to where my XY home was (I use a probe for z), and it was off by about 1/16" : because of that the vbit didn’t quite line up with the rough, and a substantial amount of sanding was required

I recently did a two pass cut in easel using a 1/4" bit for the rough, and a 1/8" bit for the finish. It turned out pretty good: I decided to try another design, but this time use Easel Pro, so I could use a 90 deg v-bit for the finish pass (1/8" on the rough).
