Question from noob

So I was carving and I noticed something weird. I am cutting 5mm plywood I set the depth per pass to .018 and the first pass it cut almost 2mm deep. Then it seemed to cut shallower and overall it cut the depth right. Any ideas?

Did you set the Z-Axis Zero to the top of the material?

I’ve cut thin wood like that and it is easy to have a wave In the wood. If it’s not secured down right it will cut uneven like that
