I need to cut some 0.010” and 0.020” brass sheet for parts on a model. General sheet stock is 6” wide by different lengths ranging from 6-14”. Has any one done this and how did they go about doing it? My biggest concern is the tool grabbing the material and converting it into shrapnel.
I have a ton of 4’ x 8’ x 0.100” black styrene left over from a job that we did some time ago.
I’m thinking that I can cut some sacrificial styrene plates on the table saw that would be affixed to the X-Carve table using Paw Paw’s painters tape method. Once the styrene is in place, route it square for easy place setting off the brass using a Triquetra. Follow this by taping. down the brass sheet stock to the styrene using double sided masking tape. Then mill out the parts.
