Lol…I thought about it, but no, I used scissors.

Made a new bit holder out of 1/2" cherry. Just be careful reaching into that drawer

Ignore the burnt 1/4" endmills…new ones on the way…lol

Funny you should post this. I am in the process of carving a bit holder for myself… I looked at the same style of bit holder, but am going with something more like this: (but customized)

That looks nice…I like that.

I like yours better and dangerous. Imagine someone sits on it by accident.
Seriously, you better come up with cover design for it. Like acrylic or similar with hinges from back side. You’re gonna stub yourself.

It sits in the top drawer of the big desk the machine is sitting on, so as long as I don’t blindly reach into the drawer I will be ok

Finished the top insert soon after you posted yours.

Now to make the rest of it.

Made a small (3.5") pine box. Made of 4 layers of 3/4" pine scraps. I used 1/4" dowels as alignment pins, half-way through the bottom piece and through the 2 center pieces. A small lip on the top to seat properly. Needs a sanding and finish. I was going to use it in the workshop, now my wife wants a carving in the top and it is losing its place in the shop…lol

It’s so cute for the shop. Give it to your wife.

I made it to throw extra hex head bolts for the clamps in…lol…but she wins…it is hers after I v-carve a small rose on the top.

Carved a Heart on the top of the box…it is no longer mine…lol

Looks good, how did you clamp the lid down with that lip on the bottom?

Nothing out of the ordinary, two clamps along the top edge and 2 along the bottom edge, barely on the wood about 1/8". The lip supported the lid nice and level, so no issues.

With my luck I would tighten the clamp and break the lip,

Cutting that shallow doesn’t require a lot of downward clamping pressure, the lid wasn’t going anywhere with 4 clamps lightly tightened.

This Box is 3X3.5X3.5", After I see your box, I’m so sorry for wasting all that time for dovetails. It is beautiful Erik.
(I made 4, in case my wife takes one)

No time was wasted on those, that is beautiful and the dovetail adds to the design.
