Hello Everyone,
I scoured the forums for quite a while this morning, but was not able to find a similar issue to what I am experiencing, so I am looking for some guidance.
I have a 1000mm machine with limit switches, z-probe, and dust collection installed… It is running the Dewalt 611 and is using an X-Controller.
I purchased the kit new and it has been running for about two months.
Here is my issue…
I can spend time creating something in Easel, but the actual carve never matches what I create there. For instance, recently was cutting an inlay into a cutting board and I wanted to have a design carved about 2 inches from the bottom and 3 inches from the right side with an 1/8in pocket carved around the entire perimeter of the board for water runoff (located about 1" from the edge of the board). Immediately when the carve started, I could tell that the design was too far over to the right and I wasn’t surprised to see that when it got to the pocket, the machine started trying to carve off of the surface! So, I stopped the carve.
After this, I went back into easel and checked my work. After seeing that it was correct, I moved my perimeter cut to just outside of the design cut, thinking that this would surely solve the problem! I deleted my design and ran it again with just the perimeter cut… Much to my surprise, the machine then cut the pocket directly through the middle of my design! How is that possible???
This has been a common problem for me with this machine. It’s getting to the point where I am going to have to tell Easel that the work piece is 1"-2" smaller than it actually is so that I don’t end up wasting precious material with failed carves… Even with this strategy, I am still worried that it will not actually work because every carve just seems to start in a random place regardless of what I put in Easel… I have not had any issues with scaling or consistency with spacing once the cut starts. Simply just having trouble getting the carves to actually match what I put in Easel! I am getting sick of guessing and hoping for the best!
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
