Hey everybody, this is probably a silly question but I’m very new to the X Carve. I was just curious if anyone has ever tried using it with cardboard? At first I just assumed it would just destroy the materials but then I stated to wonder. Perhaps with specialty bits? Again probably not but was just wondering if anyone else had thought to try it.
When I cut plastic, I stick double sided tape to some corregated cardboard so I can cut through the plastic without gouging the waste board. It seems to work ok, but I never really inspected it for a clean cut either…:-). I think it will cut but fuzzy at least with straight cutters.
You could try using a drag knife…

laser would do a good job cutting cardboard
you can try it though… the only real concern I would see with cardboard is workpiece holding and the lack of rigidity of the workpiece, like you might need a bazillion tabs, depending on the design…
Why use tabs when you could use the superglue and tape method with the cardboard?
