5 volt TTL control for laser module upgrade

Hi, I’ve got the original x-carve power supply. I’ve upgraded to the dewalt router. Then I converted the unused 24 volt spindle power to 12 volt for running a laser via 24->12 VDC converter. The laser is up and running when the spindle control switch on the power supply is set to manual. The problem is that I’d like to control the laser using the x-carve PWM speed control (yellow wire) but doesn’t seem to be working. Laser Marquetry Using X-Carve

I have had the JTech 2.8 watt laser on my X-Carve for awhile now and have used it multiple times for raster images cut into wood. But, a few weeks ago I started experimenting with using the X-Carve mounted laser to cut veneer to create marquetry designs.
