Can you use the vacuum attachment/ dust shoe while cutting 3d material STL files about an inch thick?

I think I understand your question. The dust shoe does not move with the cutting head while cutting. So it will not lower or raise over your workpiece. This will cause periods where the vacuum of the dust shoe does not work as well as others.
