# New X-Carve, calibration issues

Hello!

Just assembled my X-Carve, and tried a test carve out (American flag). The stars seem to change dramatically as it ascends up the workpiece. I have used an X-Carve a lot in the past and I am puzzled on this issue, since it doesnt seem to just be depth. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

I had similar issues and it was due to parts on my Z-axis being loose.  
There are many posts for similar issues for various machines.

What is your model of xcarve?

I have a standard post-2011 X-Carve. I will take a look at that tomorrow. Any components in particular tend to be the culprit or should I just tighten everything on the Z-Axis
