The plastic part of the bit was flush with the collet when tightened.
I am thinking this was just a fluke with the bit. I’ve been cutting since mid March without any issues at all
I bought a bit, 3/16th with a 1/4 in shaft, works great

I’m basing my business around designs like this and even though it is simple it is a money maker for me. I’m sure you can figure out how to build one similar.
Collet adapters are pretty much junk as well. I would buy a collet for each size bit shank you plan to run. Its worth it.
