Unfortunately I have problems with the accuracy of my x-carve 1000x1000mm (upgraded version).

Today I milled a test cube with dimensions 50x50mm from 18mm pine (1/8 double flute straight, suggested cut-settings).

The cube measures only 49mm in both the x and y axis, even though I calibrated the steps in GRBL.

In addition, a small lip remained at the starting point of the carve passes.

Do you have any idea what this could be or has anyone ever had similar behavior?

Is that lip about 0.5 mm?
If so I would guess the problem is deflection. I would not expect the bit to deflect that much so I am guessing you have play in the V wheels or your belts are not tight.
