I’m trying to cut a plaque and I’m having an issue with things like the inside of the letters chipping off. Letters like A and E. Tried using a 30 degree v bit and a 1/32 bit. Any ideas.

Spindle is spinning to fast is one of the issues i had, and moving to quick as well and reduce you step over from the standard 40 to 20 on small letters

Maybe try a 20 degree bit, and reduce the depth of cut ?

Wood quality / grain also affect greatly the level of detail / resistance against tearing.
