Use the tape and glue method for the hold down and eliminate the tabs altogether. Any time I’m cutting all the way through the material I use this method. Here is a video

These look great. I can not figure out how to cut through the tabs after the cutting is done. Any tips?
I have found that an Oscilating tool like a Dremel Multi Max works great to cut the tabs left after milling the parts.
I use double sided mounting tape to hold them down, which allows me not use tabs. I buy it online at Michaels, because they have some good (online only)deals on generic brands. There is some variance with the tape and material, so I usually cut a little past the material.

Most are wood but you can use acrylic
