my 800w water cooled spindle/vfd works great, I run it at the recommended settings on the bit for rpm and ipm but use less on doc. I find the less I do on doc the better the end result is overall. On just x or just y travel it does fine at .25" doc, 18000rpm and 40ipm but when it tries to cut a circle, you can tell it is too much for the machine. If doing .0625" doc, 40ipm and 18000rpm the circle turns out great. When doing less than .0625" doc the results are very similar and not worth the extra time for more passes. This is on .25" cast acrylic for reference.
